A Milestone Today

Today marks a milestone and I am not going to write much.  I have reached the 3000 hits mark.  I want to thank you for dropping by and reading my blog. I hope that I have given you some good times and some laughs. I look forward to chatting with you more, hope to make you chuckle and  have you stop and think about our world in a new and humorous way. Thanks!
Do me a big favor and tell three people about my blog.  My goal is to have 10,000 hits by June.  It would be a big help if you could do that for me.  Also, if you could hit the followers button and follow me, that would be fantastic. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Can Cherries Be Harmful to Your Health (Part 2)

Online slot machine games, now that is what I am talking about.  If you have ever played or wagered on a slot machine you know about the cherries that I am talking about. I think that they can be harmful to your health.
Plunking money into a slot machine in a casino is perhaps the stupidest thing you can do.  A slot machine is the money maker for any casino and as most rule gamblers will tell you, it is a "sucker's bet". The odds of winning are astronomical. I will will not donate my hard earned money to the owners of any casino plunking money into a one armed bandit. Well.....?
Enter the online slot games. I am not talking about the sites where you give them your debit card number and then gamble as if you were actually at the casino. No, I wouldn't waste my money that way.  However, there are some sites such as GSN and Double Down Casino that give you tons of free "tokens" to play with. It really is a lot of fun hearing the sounds and seeing the coins drop, even though they mean absolutely nothing. Be very careful though, you can become addicted.
Yes, the cherries can be harmful to your health.  As in everything of life, take all in moderation. You have to be careful because these slot games can be the gateway drug to more addictive things like video poker or blackjack. Remember, play responsibly or don't play at all. I lost $1,000,000 last night.  The good thing is, I probably will have a million dollars more placed in my account today. YAHOOO!!!!!

Can Cherries Be Harmful To Your Health?

From the title of today's blog you may think that I am going to talk about the red dye in Maraschino cherries.  It has been said that it causes cancer and you should avoid the cherries.  I am sorry but I very much like the cherry on top of my Baskin and Robbins sundae. If Baskin and Robbins will thow some shekels my way, I would be happy to blog about the experience of a two scoop chocolate chip-pralines and cream sundae with fresh strawberry topping, whip cream and nuts with a cherry on top but I will not realize any financial benefits from them.  That is a pity, but oh well. What was I talking about anyway? It is only 7:30  AM here in California so I can't go out and get a sundae right now anyway. Darn!
I just received an important phone call and have to leave.  I'm sorry but we will have to continue this discussion tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Around, Around She Goes. Where She Stops, Nobody Knows.

Honestly guys, I really didn't do that on purpose.  I know that Danica Patrick is sitting on the pole at Daytona.  This is a wonderful thing and I like how Danica is handling it.  She is a driver and is acting like a driver, not a crusader.  I like that.  She will let her driving do the talking.  She deserves all that she gets and I think will win many races, if not today's race.
NASCAR is a great experience. It is very different being there.
Today is the Daytona 500. It is in essence racing's Super  Bowl. I plan to pull up a chair and enjoy the race. Good luck, Danica and all the drivers.  May the race be fast and safe.

And The Beat Goes On (Part 2)

Yes, I am into sequels right now.  Do you know how hard it is to post every day.  Again, you my readers have a very high expectation of the content of this blog. Sometimes my mind has nothing to write about for the day, and so I have to scramble.  I do not mind pleasing you readers by posting on a daily basis, but sometimes it is very hard.  Today was just that sort of day.  It is Saturday for goodness sake.
I don't know how many of you have  been on a cruise.  Cruising can be the ultimate vacation.  Once on board, it is just like Greyhound--you leave the driving to us, or them actually.  You don't have to make many hard decisions and can just do absolutely nothing.  The hardest decision basically what to eat, where and when.  It is really great. When you go on a 4 day or greater, when the cruise is over you are hit with a dose of reality very cruelly like a very damp dishrag.  What am I going to make for dinner tonight?  You have to drive home and back to reality.  The world has not stopped, or even paused for you.  Don't even think about the pile of bills which are waiting for you in the mailbox.
OK, Where's Lunch.  Lobster for dinner tonight?
Life is hard and continues no matter what.  We saw that when the Mayans predicted the end of the Earth for December 21? The world did not end and it kept rolling on like a steamroller. One thing is for certain, whatever it is, it will be there for you when you get to it. Life does not stop.

And The Beat Goes On....

I like that phrase.  It has its place in human thought and is quite profound.  There is a lot of truth in that phrase as well. The companion piece to it probably could be "The more things change, they stay the same", but I am only going to comment on "And the beat goes on", with apologies to Sonny and Cher. I could comment on Sonny and Cher as well. I won't as you know, I go off subject quite a bit but I won't here. Denise is trying to help me with my attention deficit so I'm going to go back to my original thought.
Life does not stop but keeps moving on. Once you finish something or end some sort of experience, life does not end.  Its on to the next experience or opportunity. You can take the time to enjoy an accomplishment or fun experience or mourn the loss of something special.  Time must be taken for that and you must stop to smell the roses or the limberger cheese depending on the nature of the experience, but after a time it is time to move on.  That is a term I have heard a lot, and sometime I will tell that story but not here. At any rate, go on to the next experience in life and enjoy that experience--good or bad, happy or sad.
As you know, I play golf.  When I hole out that 50 foot putt on number eighteen to end my round I have to take time to savor the accomplishment. But guess what,  I have to pay off the twenty-five cent bet that I just lost for the round. After a time of fellowship and adult beverages-- now available in the Riverbend clubhouse--it is time to share the round with buddies and pay up.  After this, back to reality as I get in my car--or not because I don't have a car right now-- and drive back to the real world. The beat goes on.
As a freelance writer, I write and then sell whatever I write to whoever will buy and publish my works.  I then get paid.  Right now that doesn't happen very often, but again that is another story and I am getting off the subject again--help me Denise. That's it, I'm done and must write something else and sell it. The beat goes on.  That's life.  I'm OK with that, but if any publishers are reading this I am available.(Please!)
The round is over, now back to reality.

I'm Not A Clean Freak

Organization is a good thing.  The only thing is that God in his infinite wisdom forgot to give me the skill of organization.  I guess I will have to learn it on my own. Darn.
I have a fantastic filing system.  I know where things are and it is based on chronology, not on category.  Most people place stuff in files based on categories and topics.  For example, bank statements go in the bank statement file, phone bills in the phone bill file, Cable TV bills in their file and so on.  This is not very creative.
I prefer the chronological pile method.  As bills come in, you pile them on your desk.  You know about when the bill or important document came in, so if you don't disturb the pile the document is there.  What could be more simpler.  To put these bills in file folder is a waste of energy that could be better spent on other activities.  Do you know how much stamina and energy it takes to play the video slot machines on Facebook? Expending the energy to file these documents would make the slot machine process much more emotional and would drain the brain of the necessary nutrients to make important decisions. How would I make the critical decision on wagering 50 credits for 15 lines and for how long if my vital store of nutrients has been depleted because of the expenditure of critical nutrients on filing documents in their proper files?  Come on people, it is a matter of priorities.
Now, where is that $100 check. Let's see, I received it last month and need to cash it.  Which pile is it in. I think it is this one over here.  That is the December-January pile.  It should be in there. Nope, it's not there--notice I used the right it's. Let me look in November's pile. Oh shucks, I have to find that check so excuse me.

That's Winston Churchill.  I guess he was pretty organized.

By the way Denise, there was no $100 check.  I just used that as an example and for comic effect.  Don't get mad at me because there is honestly no $100 check.

Not About Coffee

The last few posts you had to endure my rants and ravings about coffee.  Today, I will save you from any discussions about coffee beans.  There will be no talk about the history of coffee and I shall not mention the noble bean, the roast, the grind or creamers.  I promise you that.  Let me go get another cup and we will get on with this post.
Ahhhhh....that tastes good.  I am awake now and totally cognizant of what I am saying, and  well aware of the world around me.  My steaming cup has been conjured up and the milk--2% remember as I am trying to loose weight--has been added to the warm and tasty brew.  I had to use brown sugar this morning as I am out of artificial sweetener. Why does this taste so good? OK, enough about coffee, let's get on with the post.
Hold on just a second, let me take another sip. The luscious roasted nut like flavor of fresh ground and brewed French Roast coffee flows over my taste buds and they are dancing with pleasure.  Wow, that tastes great!
Enough about coffee, let's get on with the task at hand. As I said, I absolutely refuse to talk about coffee on this blog post. You can be assured that that will not happen. Hold on to your hats as I am going to start the blog.
I am a sports fan.  I also like coffee.  Oops, I said I wouldn't talk about coffee.  I am sorry about that, let's move on.  I am a big baseball fan and follow the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's. Few things in life provide as much joy as being in AT&T Park on a warm, sunny day or in the case of AT&T a cold summer night. I don't mean to insult those of you who worship the blue, we can still be friends.
   I play golf.
This was in May, and it got cold. This is the only caption I could think of  and not anger anyone.
That's it for today as I am running a bit late and have an important appointment today that I have to prepare for. It is at Starbuck's and I probably will have another cup of coffee.

Plain, Chocolate, Hazelnut or French Vanilla (Part what, 4? I don't know)

You know my thoughts on flavored coffee beans.  By the way, do you grind fresh or buy ground coffee.  Never mind, I need to get back to the subject.  Let's take a look at creamers and flavored creamers. I pity the poor bean who has given its life in order to provide the coffee drinker with the rich flavor we all enjoy.
Once brewed, you have in your cup the nectar of the gods.  Black is the best way to enjoy the steamy liquid, and I have before.  I prefer a good half and half with a bit of artificial sweetener in mine. I said HALF AND HALF, not a flavored creamer.  I have gone to regular milk or 2% milk because I am trying to cut down on my weight. No flavored creamer for me.
The bean has given its life and has been roasted. It has been ground, bathed in a dowsing of steaming hot water and has released the wonderfulness of nut like flavors. Its job is done, and we must respect the sacrifice it has made. Now it is liquid and contained in a cup, I prefer a mug myself which I have purchased from the gift shops located in the numerous and exotic locations I have visited. That's another thing I can explore later, but yet again I am off the topic. Don't disrespect the sacrifice of the noble bean by adding a flavored creamer.
I recently purchased a cup of fine "joe" in a restaurant.  There was no creamer on the table. When I asked for some creamer, assuming that I would get half and half, the waitress--excuse me, server--brought me an assortment of flavored creamers. Where was the half and half.  My thoughts were "Thou shalt not defile the memory of the noble coffee bean which has sacrificed its life to provide us with a heavenly brew". I didn't say anything other than, "Excuse me, do you have any regular half and half?"
The waitress--uh server--looked at me as if to say what century are you from sir.  She very politely replied, "Oh yes, sir.  I will have some out to you right now." She was back in a flash with the real stuff.
My son adds "Almond Joy" creamer to his coffee in the morning.  By the way, he rarely finishes his cup of coffee, so I don't consider him a coffee head.  Who would of thought of "Almond Joy" creamer.  I love Almond Joys, but just not in my coffee. Its not coffee, it is a coffee flavored Almond Joy. I love my son very much, but come on. Again, think of the sacrifice of the bean.
These guys don't use flavored coffee creamers.  Well, maybe the guy in the stocking hat does.
I pity the poor but noble coffee bean. It has given its life in a total sacrifice only to be disrespected by we humans trying to change the nature of its being.  I refuse to take part in this blasphemy.

Plain, Chocolate...Ya, Ya, Ya

I hope you read this morning's post.  I have to explain to you that my editor was half asleep and didn't have his coffee yet as well.  Trees do not bear fruit, they bare fruit--I think.  A bear would bear fruit if a female bear had a cub.  Would it bare fruit?  I am not sure. Bears don't ware clothes so at any rate they would bare, or bear fruit.  I guess that trees would bare fruit as well seeing that they don't wear clothes as well.
Hey, I was up late last night and didn't sleep well to boot.  My mind is not as clear as it could be right now--but as you know that is nothing new as well. If you think that I am just trying to hear myself talk right now, you would probably be right. I'm going to bed so that I can talk about coffee some more in the morning.  I promise you this, I will make sure I have my coffee before I post.

Plain, Chocolate, Hazelnut or French Vanilla (Part 2)

Coffee is such a wonderful thing.  It is grown on the sides of sun drenched hills at a certain altitude and only in particular parts of the world.  The bean grows on a bush, even though most people refer to the bush as a tree.
The tree bears a fruit that looks something like a berry, that fruit turns a bright red as it matures and is ready to be picked. In that berry there are two halves of something that looks like a seed which is the actually the bean. The bean is removed from the berry and is dried in the sun on a large drying platform.  Once it has dried, it is then roasted in a process giving the bean its nut like flavor. You'll have to check the grammar and syntax of those last few sentences, they may be flawed and I haven't had my coffee yet this morning.  We are all well aware of the consequences of me not having my coffee. Hopefully you get the idea.
There are different roastings of the beans.  What this means is that the bean is left in the roaster longer in order to give it a darker color and a deeper flavor.  You have "American Breakfast" roast which is not roasted as long as "French Roast" or other European roasts which are roasted for a very long time. The beans are then ground put in a filter cup and brewed with hot water going over the ground beans.  Voila, out comes that dark brown liquid that we all love. Into a cup the brew goes and you can drink it without additives or you can add cream and sugar.  The flavor is nirvana, and helps the world start their day.
I take issue with what has been done to this noble concoction. Flavors have been added to the bean, which distorts the flavor.  To me, a "chocolate bean" tastes the same as a "hazelnut bean" which has been flavored with hazelnuts. If you want chocolate, make hot chocolate and put some hazelnut extract in it.What the heck is "French Vanilla" and why would you want your coffee to taste like vanilla when it is coffee.  Why don't you just brew up a cup of vanilla? Put some vanilla extract in some water and warm it up, or get some vanilla sticks if you want to be a snob about it.. That's not coffee.
To this day, I don't know how they do that. Leave the bean alone! It tastes just fine without fooling around with the bean.  Why would you want to totally disrespect a perfectly fantastic tasting coffee bean by making it into something it is not?  That is an insult to the noble bean, and if I were a coffee bean, I would be totally angry about trying to change me into something I am not.
These guys don't drink flavored coffee!
Speaking of coffee, my morning pot is ready.  Excuse me, I am going to enjoy my  pure "French Roast". More on this subject tomorrow.  Yes, there may be a part 3 to this.

Plain, Chocolate, Hazelnut or French Vanilla?

It is time to greet the morning here on the West Coast of the US. It is a beautiful morning, the sun just peeking over the Sierra Nevada and the sunshine is warmly streaming through the sliding glass window in Denise's house. She's asleep, by the way, but I promise to stick to the subject here and not drift off to somewhere I don't want to go.
In my case, what is the importance of the morning other than God has seen fit to leave me on this Earth one more day? That's a good thing and I am not complaining.  However, the most important component to morning is to get up and post on this blog.  I didn't post yesterday throwing off the world's complex order of  things. That too is OK because the world needs to learn to deal with small changes.
I am trying to post and communicate with you on a daily basis.  I don't want you to feel like the world will end.  We tried that on December 21, the world did not end but it caused great fear in some of your hearts.  With me not blogging on a daily basis, it does throw things off. This chaotic world has to have some consistency about it and when something important is not there it really destroys the balance of life. My duty is to write this blog, which adds to the rhythm of that ordered world.  I take that duty quite seriously, trying to maintain that equilibrium of that delicate world.
What did all that I just said mean to the world and will it be preserved in the annals of human history as a classic work?-- Probably not. Its true meaning probably is that it means absolutely nothing, get out your hip boots he's at it again.

Stay Tuned For A Word From Our Sponsor

It was fully my intention to have a great post for you today.  Unfortunately the events of the day are getting in the way and I have to take care of some very pressing business. I truly thank you for your patience and promise you a fantastic post for tomorrow.  I will even get up at my normal 5:00 AM Pacific Time and post. In the meantime, please enjoy a message from my sponsors.

I hope you enjoyed that and will take full advantage of the services and products that they offer. They support this blog and without them this blog would not be financially feasible.  Now, I will conclude the pressing business I have to complete and then retire to a quiet place to contemplate the outstanding and brilliant literary expression of ideas I will have for you in tomorrow's post.

What About The IRS?

I admit it, I am hooked.  These casino sites on Facebook are addictive.  They give you so many free chips to play that you never have to buy chips and you can win big!  Do I have to report my winnings to the IRS?  Think about that for a minute.
Before you go condemning me for gambling, you have to know that these are just on-line video games.  You are playing not for real money, but for free chips that the casino gives you.  You can buy more chips, but they are not real.  It is all make believe.  I don't know if you have ever gone to the sites and played, but it is a kick.
My Make believe house that I am paying for with my make believe winnings which the not make believe  IRS  has taxed.
My question is still real.  Are my winnings taxable and reported to the IRS?  I wouldn't put it past them to want taxes on these make believe winnings.  Such is life. You can't escape death and taxes. Maybe I will pay the IRS with my  make believe winnings.

Facing Facebook

Technology and I don't get along very well.  I am all in favor for new ways of doing things, but when does it go too far?  This is not the world I grew up in and that can be good and bad.  For me, the jury is still out.
You can friend me on Facebook.  I can friend you on Facebook.  What would happen if I just want to "friend" you.  Do I have to do it electronically, or can I just call you up on the phone and have coffee at Starbuck's.  That brings up another question, what phone do I call you on? Do I call you on my cell phone, or my land line? At this point, who has a land line anyway.
Speaking of landline, I know people who still have their landline and it is a video phone.  When I am talking on the telephone, there are times I don't want to be seen.  How about when you answer the phone that rings right after you get out of the shower.  The phone rings, you go to the phone as an impulse and forget where you have just been.  You answer the phone dripping wet, do you really want someone to see you in this state? It is not a problem to me because people are always telling me I'm all wet.
This post is not going exactly where I wanted it to go, but I think that you get the point. What did we do before U-tube, Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and now Pinterest? I still had friends, or friend actually.  I remember clay tablets and typewriters.  As a matter of fact, I remember two cans stuck together with a string.
"Tanks" for reading my blog.
Excuse me now, I have to sign up for a Pinterest account. My, have things changed.

I Know...It's Tuesday

Yes, I know.  I haven't posted for almost a week.  There are no reasons for me not posting other than life is getting in the way.  Things have been hectic and I admit to being a bit lazy. It seems little things come up and I just don't take the time to post.  Life is like that I guess.
It's not that I don't have access to a computer.  My laptop is fine and Denise has a laptop as well.  I have access to a computer at Denise's house, but it is just taking the time to sit down and use it to write.  I am a writer and that is what I do.  I need to write, and write every day.  My lazy streak is coming out right now and I don't like it.
As you know, or maybe you don't, Denise and I are getting married in June.  Many of you have congratulated us on our upcoming wedding, thank you very much for that. My mind has been very much on this.  Many changes are in the works and I don't do well with changes. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad thing and I welcome the changes.  But, they are still changes which will radically alter my life and it is hard to get my mind around them. Fact of the matter is that life changes whether or not you are standing still or running.  I accept that, and would rather participate instead of spectate. Hey, that's a great line.  I think I will make a poster out of it.
I am really excited about what is coming in the future.
I am trying to be consistent with my posts.  It seems that is a flaw in my character, my consistency in life.  Please help me work on that. However, I refuse to be a spectator and relish the role of participant.

Do We Really Need....?

Recently, today actually, I was reminded of how much we depend on the electronic devices we use in our present day.  How much do we really need them? Isn't it interesting that when you have them taken away, life really changes?  What would life be like without these things?
I am finding out very quickly.  My financial situation is a disaster and I have lost my TV, cell phone and car. There is a silver lining in this though. I am able to see the humor in all this and keep soldiering on.  There is a lot happening in my life that I would have missed had I still had my face buried in the TV.  I have met some good new friends riding the bus and have had some great conversations with these friends.  The bus drivers know me now and I get a chance to talk to them. I am engaged to a very beautiful lady and we will marry soon.  You kind of take a good look at some priorities.
The phone is not ringing off the hook.  Wait a minute, I have a cell phone and it doesn't have a hook.  You don't have to pick up a receiver.  Let's get basic here, how many of you out there even know what a phone receiver is?  Forgot about that one and boy am I dating myself.  It is pretty quiet around here.
Direct TV has an interesting notice when you are behind in your bill.  They call it a 721 notice.  I have figured out that when you add 7 plus 2 plus 1 it equals 8.  Isn't that special.  They kind of get upset when you don't pay the bill. It sure is quiet in this house.
I could use one of these about now.  A Margarita, not a  topless belly dancer.  I just wanted to clear that up.
Have you ever had a bank mad at you?  They don't like it either when you don't make your car payment.  They have a tendency to want their property back. The repo guy thought I was crazy when he took my car and I said "thank you".  I wish I had a camera.  Again, I am enjoying riding the bus and will soon purchase a car for cash that can't be repoed.
I need to write and the many distractions of these modern conveniences have gotten in my way.  As I have said before, with my attention deficit disorder I get easily distracted. I am going to use this time to write and to set up the marketing campaign to market my writing.  I couldn't do it with all the distractions.
I sincerely feel that I am being tested to see how I survive through all this.  I will NOT borrow any more money.  I will get out of this much stronger and wiser. Things will get better.  I have my apartment, the fridge is full of food and the coffee can is full of french roast beans that I will grind for my morning coffee. I have a fiancee that loves me.  What more do I need. I still have my internet, my free slots on Facebook and my sense of humor--for today at least.
Here is the bottom line for all of this.  I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!! I WILL SUCCEED!!!

Pardon Me, I'm Thinking

My attention deficit disorder has two faces.  Many people don't understand that.  First, my mind is continually racing and has thoughts continually.  This makes it seem like I am going in one hundred directions at once.  The consequence of this is that nothing gets completed.
My condition has a flip side which rears its ugly head often.  When I am deep in thought or am trying to complete a task, you can hit me with a baseball bat and I probably wouldn't know it.  I am oblivious to my surroundings. You could be jumping up and down in a clown suit hollering my name and if I am in the middle of something that I am intensely concentrating on, I won't notice.
Believe me, I am not trying or intending to be rude.  The fact of the matter is, I just can't hear you because my mind is so focused on what I am doing or thinking.  I have stories that you won't believe, but they are true.
When I was a salesman, I was working building a display of product in a local grocery store.  Needless to say, I was concentrating very hard on the "look" of the display as well as how to build it.  A good friend of mine said that he came up to me and said hello while I was building the display.  He was a little put out when later he told me he was upset that I had ignored him when he talked to me.  To this day, I honestly don't remember him talking to me.  Of course I apologized to him, it seems I apologize a lot and for a lot of reasons, sorry Rusell Crowe and Duckwater, Nevada.  I hope that I am still in the good graces of Kuala Lampur though. See, there it goes again, off the topic because my brain is going in several different directions at once.
Sometimes that concentration helps me to do my best.  A few years ago I was in a local Pro-Am golf tournament.  One can definitely be intimidated by something like this, but after the first hole I settled down and played well. It was great and I really was at home and played to the crowd.  There were a couple of times where I had to hit an important shot.  My concentration was amazing, to the point where there was nothing in the world but me and the shot.
I hit an almost impossible shot into a pin cut close to the water on a par three hole.  The crowd went wild.
I remember the shot and I remember the crowd.  What I don't remember is the good friend that came up to me to congratulate me on the shot after we holed out. My thoughts were focused on what I had just done and what would I do on the next hole.  I was in "The Zone".
Later he asked if I remembered him patting me on the back and congratulating me on the shot and the putt. Honestly, I don't remember it and later he asked me about it.  I had to admit that I didn't remember.  I did explain why.
Intense concentration.  Where am I by the way?
Should you see me out somewhere, make sure you stop and say hi.  If I am in the middle of something it is OK to physically stop me and say hi even if it takes tripping me to get my attention.

The Sun Came Up

Not everyone in this world is a football fan.  I understand that and for those of you who aren't, that's OK. I happen to like baseball more but that is a personal preference.  My game to play is golf, and I don't hide that fact. Still, to many when their team doesn't win, some fans think that the world has come to an end.
So it was with this Sunday. The Super Bowl this Sunday was the third watched Super Bowl in history.  The 49ers, my team lost and many fans of the Niners were a bit distraught about the loss. To me it was OK, it's over now bring on baseball.  You almost thought that many fans thought that the world would come to an end.  Funny thing though, the sun cam up Monday morning.  I don't know if it will come up this morning because I am writing this at 5::00 in the morning, but I am awake and I am going to assume that it will come up.  It always does.
I am going to try something here.  Those of you in Kuala Lampur, it is Tuesday.  Has the sun come up yet? How is the weather there?

It's a Killer

I have come to a realization.  You are probably asking yourself--or not--why is this any different than  other times I have written about anything.  Well, this is different.  I have had a revelation, and I live in Fresno not on the island of Patmos Greece. I almost had to live in a cave, but that's another story and I don't put myself on the level of St. John.
Many things have dawned on me and have become part of my consciousness. First, the 49ers are not going to win their sixth Super Bowl. I'm OK with that, by the way.  Life rolls on and we have to pick up the pieces and move on.  Where have I heard that "Move On" comment?  Oh yes, many times after my separation and divorce.  It is true you know.
I think that Kimberly Garfoyle, commentator on Fox News is a very beautiful woman.  That is quite a revelation.  So is Nicole Petalides and she goes into a special column because she is Greek.  I'm Greek, but I am no special revelation. I do have some hansom gray hair though.
Here is the great revelation.  I am getting older and my body is not functioning as well on less rest.  There, I have said that. When I stay up late and then get up at my normal early time, I suffer.  Even my beloved coffee doesn't help. Sad as it is, it is reality and a big revelation. I stayed up late last night and overslept this morning.
I don't like letting the morning get away from me.  I am a morning person and get a lot done before noon. Today was a day I didn't get much done as I got up very late. It is really a killer of my creativity and productivity.  That's life I guess.

Happy Saturday!

Today is Saturday and in honor of that I am not going to post anything of significance.  Of course, since I am retired every day is Saturday so that doesn't make a whole lot of difference.  By the way, a hearty Hello to the people in Kuala Lumpur--is it raining?--and to those in Duckwater, Nevada. Those of you in Belzoni, Mississippi--I love spelling and saying Mississippi--good morning to you and as we say in California, "Have a nice day!". That's it for today.

I've Been To Nevada

I have lived in California all of my life and have visited Nevada many times.  Lake Tahoe is probably one of the most picturesque places on earth and is contrasted by the starkness of the nearby Nevada Great Basin.  Reno has changed a lot and on a recent trip I couldn't believe the growth in the area. Carson City has a freeway bypass which has returned the Capitol City into a sleepy little town once again with a Costco.  Virginia City has not changed a bit and I haven't been to Las Vegas in a very long time.  I have never been to Duckwater.
Is there an airport in Duckwater?  Where would you go to get a flight out to go anywhere in this wonderful world.  Would you hop a flight out of Ely, if Ely has an airport, to catch a connecting flight out of Las Vegas or would you drive directly to Las Vegas?  I don't know.
I was trying to be humorous when I talked yesterday about the stage coaches out of Duckwater.  It is probably a modern city with all the conveniences such as a gas station and a 7-eleven, at least a convenience store. I know, most people living there have cars. Do they have cell pone service? In these modern times, most places do.
I don't know a thing about Duckwater and I shouldn't be teasing about it as I am doing.  Hold on, let me google it.  I will be right back.

I am still working on it.  My computer is old and slow.

Here it is.  Duckwater is a semi-ghost town located on or near a Shoshone Indian Reservation.  By the way, there is an airport in Duckwater, now I know. The town  is  located on the same latitude as Sacramento, California and a majority of workers living in Duckwater  make their living through carpentry. It is 170 miles from Las Vegas, so I am assuming that people when they want to fly to other parts of the world they travel to Las Vegas. There is also a cemetery, a place where many in Duckwater are dying to go to--that was bad, but you had to know I was going to take the shot. I am sure that Duckwater is a nice place, just small and located in the boon-docks.
So, don't get mad at me for writing this, Duckwater.  I am sure that many in this world don't know that you exist, and judging from the number of readers of my blog most people in the world will still not know you are there. Your reputation and existence are safe.
Sun's up over Duckwater International. Not really, It is actually a picture of an airport in Michigan as I haven't been to Dukwater to take a picture of their International Airport.
By the way, what is the weather like in Kuala Lumpur?
